In this role, you’ll serve as the senior technical lead on innovation and core geoscience technology to help ensure our game-changing ideas are leading the industry.  You’ll conceive, structure, and communicate ideas that advance electromagnetic technologies in the energy industry to win commercial R&D contracts and government grants.  You’ll take charge of conceptualizing and preparing proposals for new solutions appealing to the energy industry.  You’ll manage the R&D road map, ensuring technical and practical objectives are met, while delivering on-time and on-budget projects.  Because you’re versatile, you’ll have no problem authoring technical papers, providing technical sales and marketing support, or presenting at technical conferences.   Years from now, we’ll look back and you’ll be a key star who helped transform the business!

You’ve used your advanced degree in geophysics and experience with electromagnetics to master either modeling and inversion processes, instrumentation and field work, or data processing and noise cancellation techniques.  You understand the technical atmosphere of the energy industry.

You have a keen ability to hold the big picture while minding the details.  You are known for communicating clearly and effectively on the potential, progress, and hurdles of your projects and are a champion of changing priorities.   You are comfortable with uncertainty because you know it’s a catalyst for true innovation.  You thrive on moving and failing fast and aren’t afraid of mistakes because you know they are fuel for fast innovation.  You have history of being able to manage time, prioritize, and work independently with little direction.  You also excel working in and leading dedicated, intelligent, and driven teams.

What we’ve done!
GroundMetrics has invented and developed the eQube™ – the only onshore low frequency capacitive electric-field sensor (patented); a new borehole casing source method (patented); the Eos™ – the only EM sensor integration with a wireless seismic data recorder (enabling the only real-time, in-field EM quality control system); and the Imon™ – the most accurate source waveform monitoring system in use.  We’ve applied machine learning techniques in a new way to take full advantage of large, diverse EM datasets (patents pending).  Next we plan to invent and implement new EM inversion methods and commercialize new applications such as casing integrity, carbon capture and storage monitoring and more.  All of our technologies are grounded in both computational modeling and the large volumes of onshore EM data we acquire (1 million measurements and counting).

In this role, you’ll work to ensure our innovation and core geoscience ideas are leading the industry…constantly looking for better, faster ways of doing things through new code, new technologies, and new workflows. In this role, you’ll travel (domestically and internationally) to help conduct electromagnetic geophysical data acquisition and processing. But because you’re versatile, you’ll have no problem oscillating between field work, data processing and other types of work that interest you. Possibilities include resolving electrical or engineering problems, developing algorithms, writing code, designing widgets, systems engineering, numerical modeling, inversion, data analytics, product development, technical writing, blogging, research and more.

You’ll use your degree in physics, electrical & computer engineering, software engineering, electronics & electrical communication, signal processing, OR geophysics to monitor the quality of field data acquisition for both “data sufficiency” and “data quality”. You have knowledge of electrical and EM methods. Maybe you have experience identifying, proposing and implementing software to improve modeling and processing. Perhaps you’ve used signal processing principles for data filtering/corrections and have developed new tools using MATLAB and Python. Or maybe you’ve assembled and tested electronic systems and prototypes using your knowledge of electrical principles. You’ve possibly even drawn or modified engineering specs and developed necessary technical documents to clarify design details of experimental electronics units.
